Symonds and Abraham Stay in Contention at Myrtle Beach

Bermuda’s golfers have reached the penultimate stage of the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championships in South Carolina, with Ann Symonds and Dave Abraham remaining firmly in the top five of their respective divisions. Following a testing third day across the Grand Strand courses, Symonds carded an 86 in Flight 53 (Women 59 & Under) to sit third overall heading into the final round. Teammate Angela Cook produced a solid 89 to climb up into tenth place, putting two Bermudians inside the division's top ten. In Flight 22 (Mid Senior Men 60–69), Dave Abraham backed up his previous second-round surge with an 89 to stay within striking distance of the leaders, sitting tied for fifth. Antony Than recorded an 86 to end the round tied for 36th. The standout round of the day for the island contingent came courtesy of Richard Marriott in Flight 9 (Senior Men 50–59). Marriott shaved seven strokes off his second-round score to fire an impressive four-over-par 76, vaulting up the leaderboard to tied-34th. Key Division Highlights Women's Gross (Flight 52): Tracy Burgess carded a third-round 91, shifting to 11th position overall. Senior Women (Flight 55, 60 & Above): Ann Mitchell matched Burgess with a 91 of her own, placing her tied for 21st. Super Senior Men (Flight 44, 70–79): Gary Venning posted a steady 92 to finish the third round tied for 35th.
