Bermudian pair Tre Burgess and Justin Sukdeo helped Thomas College open their regular season in gritty fashion, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Western New England University Golden Bears at Suprenant Field. After a tightly contested opening 45 minutes where neither side could find a breakthrough, the Terriers seized the initiative straight from the restart. Adam Elkott broke the deadlock barely a minute into the second half, latching onto an opening in the 47th minute to slot home what proved to be the decisive goal. Burgess started in midfield and delivered an energetic shift in the engine room, while defender Sukdeo also contributed significantly to a disciplined defensive effort. Western New England pushed aggressively for an equaliser in the closing stages, unleashing nine second-half attempts.
