Rangers Crush Cuts by 202 Runs to Seal Emphatic Win

Saturday, August 22, 2026

Southampton Rangers 259/9 Willow Cuts 57 Southampton Rangers delivered a dominant, all-round display to dismantle Willow Cuts by 202 runs in the final round of the Western Counties Cricket Series. An imposing total set up by half-centuries from Dalin Richardson and Oronde Bascome proved far too steep for Willow Cuts, who were bundled out for just 57 courtesy of a destructive bowling spell from Derrick Brangman. Opting to set a target, Rangers took control early through Richardson and Bascome. Richardson paced the innings with a fluent 69 from 59 deliveries, striking five boundaries and three sixes, while Bascome anchored the top order with a steady 53 off 55 balls. Despite Chakote Basden leading the Willow Cuts attack with figures of 2-19 from his three overs, Rangers posted an imposing 259-9 from their allotted 40 overs. Willow Cuts' chase never got going in the face of relentless pressure from Brangman. The Rangers bowler ran through the line-up with devastating figures of 5-7 from 7.5 overs, including two maidens. Shaquille Bean offered the lone resistance with a team-high 14, but Willow Cuts found themselves bowled out inside their reply for 57 to seal a comprehensive victory for the Rangers.
